Father Says Amy Winehouse Might Have Died Of Alcohol Detoxification

Amy Winehouse’s father believes that alcohol detoxification, not drugs, led to her death.

According to E! Online , the recently deceased star reportedly did not take drugs for three years, leading her parents to believe that something else might have caused her death.

“I’ve been banging on about the fact that she hasn’t taken drugs in three years,” said Mitch Winehouse. “Everyone thought I was in denial, I wasn’t in denial, she hadn’t taken drugs. She’d been clean for round about three years.”

Mitch claimed that the alcohol detoxification led to her seizure, which ultimately resulted in her death.

“Her problem was alcohol, the last few years of her life,” he said. “You might argue, what’s the difference? The difference is that what happened to Amy wasn’t anything to do with drugs. It might be that drugs took its toll in the early years, but there were no drugs in her system at all.”

AceShowbiz.com reports that Mitch did acknowledge that there were traces of the drug Librium still found in the singer’s body. He, however, insisted that it was only prescribed to help her detox. He maintained that alcohol was the primary culprit.

“She had a series of seizures brought on by this binge drinking and then stopping to drink.” He went on to say, “I think it’s what the doctor said. I think she had a seizure and this was the time when there was no one there to rescue her,” he said.
